Guess What? It doesn’t matter what business you are in….business is really about people.
We spend a lot of time and energy focusing on our products, services, and market share. While these are all important elements of a good business, they shouldn’t be elevated over our consideration of our relationships.
We are in business to provide a service or a product to customers. It should be our intention that our service somehow makes their lives better and causes them to value a continuing relationship with us. We are in business to provide for our families and loved ones, and to teach them our values, principles and work ethic. We are in business to employ people: to value, mentor and train-up the next generation. We are in business to compete and collaborate with other businesses in ways that constructively sharpens our skills and makes our industry better. We are in business to make our community a better place: by solving problems, promoting unity, and re-investing our assets and resources.
Have you really taken the time to consider how people affect your business and how your business affects people? What can you start doing today to shift the focus of your business toward the people in your community of influence?
